Before you priest

There are many restrictions of being a priest, and therefore it can be hard to gain certain characteristics and skills after priesting, it is therefore wise to get;

21 Body control - Riding a horse can be very useful even for a stay at home alt, it might be needed one day!
20 or more Blacksmithing - It is always useful to have good % creation rates if you ever need to make yourself any nails or tools etc
20 Digging skill - See slopes without examining and be able to plant items (Eg. BSB or Lamp)
20 Mining Skill - Good to have for Characteristics
High pottery skill - Although not needed pottery skill can be used to gain a lot of soul depth, however as you can not imp as a priest this skill can't be picked up later!

Restrictions? What Restrictions?

Once you enter Priesthood on a character that character can not do certain things unless he/she goes against the will of their god (Which is not recommended, if you are a priest you will take a hit to your faith by going against what your god wants)

Vynora priest restrictions;
  • Vynora Priests cannot improve. Although they can finish unfinished items that do not need items added to them (Eg shovel by shovel blade on shaft, but can't finish a large cart or boat).
  • Vynora Priests cannot continue on or repair walls or structures. They can plan them.
  • Vynora Priests cannot use Alchemy. (This means no Healing Covers or dye can be made on Priest accounts)
  • Vynora Priests cannot dig.
  • Vynora Priests cannot use archery or use a bow.
  • Vynora Priests cannot mine.
  • Vynora Priests cannot steal, pick locks or destroy structures.

The Basics of priesthood

Priests of Vynora want to get/have
How to get there

High Faith

Well this one is obvious, just keep doing the 5 prayers per day 20 mins apart for faith gain, however this process is long to get you to high faith quickly, it can be therefore recommended that you sermon as much as possible. For a link to Wurmpedia page about sermons, follow this http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Sermon#Sermons

High Channeling

Channeling is one of the hardest skills to grind up in wurm, but often is worth it, for a vynora priest you'll want to level channeling by;

Casting Opulence (1-30/45/55)
This spell is cast onto food items and uses 10 favor per cast, it has a relatively quick cast timer and works well with SB from full favor.

Casting Vynora's Hand (30 - Start of Vessel) - Note: This is personal preference, I believe most people stick with opulence until vesseling
For this spell fill a pottery flask with water, cast on the water then empty and refill the flask, rinse and repeat.

Vesseling Gems (Do this when you find Opulence or Vynora's hand isn't giving good enough gains, with a link you should be able to do Opulence fine up to 45/50 Channeling then move onto this)
Like to the wurmpedia page on 'Vessel': http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Vessel
Note: Vesseling Gems works best at higher levels but can be expensive, its worth keeping the gems you find from prayers or mining on a main for this point!

High Soul Depth

Soul Depth arguably is what allows gives a better chance of a greater power cast when enchanting an item (Note that this is a disputed fact as the enchanting system is so random) so is very useful for a priest.

Getting Soul depth can be done in many ways, but generally Nature skills and Hot Food cooking is the route most people take.

When trying to gain a characteristic it is wise to remember that it is the amount of actions performed rather than the time spent doing the action that gives characterstic XP or skill/level, so it can be wise to use WoA items where possible, although most Nature skills will not be affected by this.

Recommended Skills to use to get Soul Depth;

  • Farming
  • Butchering (For getting meat to cook - not needed although can work well)
  • First aid (If your a fighter then this works well, but First Aid in my experience works well for getting soul depth and its an easy skill to raise in safety)
  • Hot Food Cooking (This is by far the best way to gain Soul Depth as a priest, this is almost considered a must.)
  • Animal Husbandry (Useful skill which gives out soul depth)
These are only few of many skills which can be chosen to raise Soul depth. You may see almost the whole range if you visit http://www.wurmpedia.com/index.php/Characteristics

Hope this helps and good luck with your new priest!

So, your trying to grind fletching up? Or perhaps get some easy BC? Well here is decent way to get good skill (And high quality arrows) while the woodcutting levels are still low.

First, start with making arrowshafts, until you are at a high enough skill level for you to easily make arrows (I'd recommend atleast 10 Skill to lower the fail rate)

Now, once you reach this level you should get yourself a couple of things ready.

What you will need;
  • 50-100 Arrowshafts (These should already be made anyway, so this part is easy)
  • 50-100 Hunting arrow heads (These are easier to make than War arrow heads and will do more damage in PvE)
  • Access to a BSB (This is essential for the next part - You will need to be able to use a BSB for the whole grind)
  • One(or more) of four Carpentry improving tools - File,Pelt,Mallet or Carving knife (Note, do not use Log)

Got everything? Good, now begin to make Hunting arrows, imp all the unfinished arrows until you have a full, finished set. Once you have this set of 50+ arrows, head to the BSB and place the Hunting arrows inside of it, from here take the arrows out, they will have random needs for improving, (Eg. Some pelt, some Mallet etc.) Expand the set of arrows so you see all of them, then sort them by 'i' (What they need to improve them)

Now that you have sorted them, begin to improve all of them which need the tool(s) of your choice. While you work stick the ones that don't need the tool which you want to imp with back into the BSB and repeat the process.

Good luck, and hope this helps.
